Despite this fact, on August 23, 2022, the FTC sent a Cease and Desist Demand Letter (the \"Letter\") to iBASIS in which the FTC noted that iBASIS had received and transmitted calls related to roughly 45 Traceback inquiries during a one and a half year period ending July 18, 2022. While the Letter included no evidence or formal findings of illegal activities, the FTC stated that the mere existence of the traceback notices meant that iBASIS is apparently routing and transmitting illegal robocall traffic knowingly. The Letter further stated that if iBASIS is engaged in these activities it must immediately cease and desist from engaging in those activities.\n\niBASIS provided responses on August 26 and September 28, 2022 noting there was no evidence that iBASIS was routing and transmitting illegal robocalls knowingly, and pointed out that the FTC should not equate the mere receipt of traceback notices with the knowing transmittal of illegal calls. iBASIS further pointed out the numerous mitigation efforts that it had implemented, including blocking, traffic monitoring and customer vetting, and also explained that all of the Company's proactive actions were in line with and sometime in excess of the actions required by the FCC.\n\nSubsequent to the submission of the iBASIS responses, the FTC took no further action or made any findings on the issue and iBASIS considers the matter closed."}
